for Special Educational Needs

Verenigma TWO TAPS empowers teachers with immediate psychological insight to address students' emotional wellbeing with clarity and sensitivity. Verenigma assesses realtime levels of stress, anxiety and depression to record the students emotional patterns through the weeks.

This automatically translates into a full picture of their progress and emotional state to meet the requirements of EHCP reporting.

The Growing Challenge for Teachers in SEN

Across the UK, schools are grappling with a surge in demand for tailored support. Teachers are tasked not only with coordinating individualised learning plans but also with managing staff training, liaising with parents, and providing evidence for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Yet, many of the most significant barriers for pupils are not visible in academic results or behaviour logs. Emotional well-being—stress, overwhelm, anxiety, or frustration—can dramatically affect learning but often goes unnoticed until it escalates. Traditional approaches rely heavily on personal observations, which can be subjective and potentially inconsistent. This is where Verenigma steps in.

How Technology Is Transforming Pupil Support

Supporting pupils with additional needs has long been one of the most emotionally demanding and structurally under-resourced responsibilities in education. For Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) and school leaders, the landscape is becoming increasingly complex. Pupils with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and other needs present diverse challenges, while the demand for data, accountability, and demonstrable progress continues to rise.

Now, a new AI-powered tool called Verenigma is offering teachers a way to bridge the gap between emotional support and measurable outcomes—bringing real-time emotional insight directly into the classroom.

The Four Points of Support from Verenigma

Save Time

Save time in daily debrief; compiling individual reports for EHCP as well as larger scale reports i.e. ofsted reports. Making decisions about support for individual students as well as to larger policy.

Identify triggers, and show outcomes of interventions. Objective, measured emotional evidence enhances the professional skills that can be applied in each individual student's case.

For schools under increasing pressure to demonstrate impact, this level of reporting provides reassurance, transparency, and a stronger foundation for decision-making.

Objective Emotional Data at Your Fingertips

Verenigma uses AI-powered voice analysis to identify the underlying levels of stress, depression and anxiety that drive the observable emotional states such calmness or overwhelm. This helps teachers in communicating with students and to help students themselves navigate their emotional state. By tracking patterns over time, the platform makes the invisible visible–offering SENCOs and teachers clear, objective insight into a students’s emotional journey.

Instead of relying on instinct or after-the-fact observations, staff can access accurate, consistent data that highlights when a pupil may be struggling. For pupils with ADHD or ASD, where self-expression is often challenging, this kind of objective insight can be transformative.

Building Pupil Autonomy Through Self-Regulation

One of the most exciting aspects of Verenigma is its potential to help students take control of their own emotions. By learning to label feelings, identify triggers, and practise calming techniques, students develop autonomy, agency and confidence.
For children with ADHD or ASD, who often struggle with emotional regulation, this can make a profound difference—not only improving classroom behaviour but also supporting long-term well-being. Over time, students learn strategies to manage their emotions, fostering resilience that extends far beyond school.

Supporting Staff, Reducing Stress

Teachers are often the first to feel the impact of unmet emotional needs in the classroom. Outbursts, disengagement, or disruptive behaviour can derail lessons and add to staff stress.

Use of Verenigma by teachers for themselves also enhances resilience to daily strains through greater emotional self awareness. This gives early warning to possible burnout and consequent issues for staff welfare.

Making Strategies Effective

Published research has shown repeated use of implicit affect labeling with cognitive reappraisal results in improved emotional self regulation. Verenigma's use of implicit affect labeling induced by the visualisation of the levels of stress, anxiety and depression results in decreased emotional dysregulation. At its heart, repeated and daily use of Verenigma reduces emotional blindness (alexithymia), which drives emotional dysregulation, resulting in lowered distress of depression and anxiety.

Affect labeling helps students develop emotional regulation skills, improving:

• reactivity and classroom behaviour

• communication and relationships

• sleep, mood, and overall wellbeing

For teachers, this enables evidence-based decision making, targeted support, and evaluation of interventions. Verenigma offer a practical way to enhance support without adding to workload.

A path model analysis based on our research, illustrating the strength of the relationship between emotional blindness (alexithymia), emotional dysregulation and, depression and anxiety.

How Verenigma Supports SMART Outcomes

The SEND Code of Practice asks schools to set goals that are SMART — Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound. Verenigma builds these principles directly into daily SEMH support, making outcomes easier to track and share.

Specific

• Captures real-time emotional data (stress, anxiety, frustration) that links directly to a pupil’s individual needs.

• Moves beyond vague observations to provide focused insight.

Measurable

• Translates emotional states into clear, independent outcomes.

• Provides dashboards and reports so progress is visible at a glance.

Achievable

• Helps staff set realistic, short-term goals informed by real data.

• Ensures interventions are matched to what’s possible for each pupil.

Relevant

• Aligns with the SEMH needs identified in support plans or EHCPs.

• Connects emotional development directly to learning and well-being.

Time-bound

• Tracks progress continuously across days, weeks and terms.

• Creates reports for reviews, showing change within clear timeframes.

With Verenigma, SMART isn’t extra work — it’s built in.

Show progress with confidence, support interventions effectively, and keep pupils’ emotional growth visible alongside their learning.

Our Research

ADHD Verenigma Users

We interviewed 59 Verenigma users with ADHD from the start of using the app up to 28 days, using the app at least twice per week. The users self reported Emotional Regulation (DERS-16) and Alexithymia (TAS-DIF) scores.

On average, users experienced a significant improvement in both emotional regulation and alexithymia.

Users also experienced a reduction in fatigue (based of ESS and ISI scores), and a reduced intolerance of uncertainty (IoU-S12).

Verenigma provides tools to test emotional regulation and alexithymia in our app. You can also take an alexithymia test on our website.
